Carers' support
If you are caring for someone living with cancer, we are here for you - every step of the way.
Are you caring for someone with cancer?
At Weston Park Cancer Charity, we recognise the emotional impact of cancer and the challenges faced by those caring for friends and family with the disease. We are here to support you through this difficult time, every step of the way. You may be feeling quite isolated or wonder what is reasonable to ask of friends and family. You may not even recognise yourself as a carer and desperately want to be a friend, wife, husband, partner or colleague again.
It is easy to feel cut off and not feel heard, in a time when focus primarily is on the person who is being cared for. We are here to help you at the Weston Park Cancer Charity. It may be that the reassurance of a contact number is all the support that you need, or that a regular call from a healthcare professional is your preferred choice. Our aim is to guide you through those difficult and anxious days. To be your advocate if required or advise how best to navigate the healthcare system. Having someone who can listen and lend a sympathetic ear can make all the difference.
Caring for someone can be difficult and stressful. Always remember that you need to look after yourself too. We can help you to be honest about your own needs and how important it is not to feel guilty when taking some time away from the role.
