Managing financially
If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, it might affect your financial situation. It can have a huge impact on your working pattern or hours, and a knock-on effect on your finances.
Welfare appointments
Our healthcare team can make an appointment for you to see, or speak to one of our team of cancer specialist welfare benefits advisors.
Appointments can be made at a time to suit you. Your advisor can talk to you about your situation, let you know what support is available to you and help you through the process of applying for any benefits you may be entitled to.
These may include:
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- Attendance Allowance (AA)
- Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
- Universal Credit (UC)
- Carers' Allowance
- Occupational concerns such as taking unpaid leave, taking time off work, or working flexible or reduced hours
Your welfare advisor will raise a benefits check to see what funding you may be entitled to. They can also help you if you have had, or are having, any issues at work – including:
- Worries about discrimination
- Concerns about unpaid leave and taking time off
- Working flexible or reduced hours
- Help with debt
If you have recently lost someone close to you to cancer, our healthcare team can also help you find out what to do about benefits payments, funeral costs or any other costs associated to losing a loved one to cancer.
