In 2024, Nick was diagnosed with Prostate cancer and was told that he’d need a 20-day course of radiotherapy, which would start just before Christmas.

Nick’s sister had heard about Weston Park Cancer Charity’s free transport service and suggested that he get in touch to find out more. The charity organised a place for Nick, and he caught the bus every day from NY Stadium in Rotherham. In his own words "I’m not sure what I would have done without it. It made such a difference not having to think about morning rush hour or parking. I brought my wheelchair to the bus and the drivers stored it away for me which was great,” said Nick. “There was also an extra step which made it easier for me to get on board.”
