Behind ‘see it. treat it.’ - Meet Appeal Board Member Tajinder Singh

At the heart of our ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal is our incredible appeal board. We’re introducing each member, next up is Tajinder Singh.

At the heart of our monumental ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal is a dedicated group of people who share the same incredible goal - to transform cancer care for patients across our region.

Our Appeal Board members bring passion, commitment, and their invaluable professional experience to help us drive our ‘see it. treat it’ campaign forward.

To celebrate the amazing people behind ‘see it. treat it.’, we’re shining a light on our Appeal Board members - sharing what motivates them to be part of our monumental appeal.

We spoke with Tajinder Singh, owner of Totley Pharmacy, to hear why being an Appeal Board member is so important to him.

What inspired you to join the ‘see it. treat it.’ Appeal Board? And what is your connection to Weston Park Cancer Charity?

I attended the launch of the appeal and found it incredibly inspiring. Hearing first-hand about the difference this scanner could make to patients’ lives really moved me.
When I was later asked to join the Appeal Board, it was an easy decision. The clinical benefits of the scanner are so significant that I simply had to help.
Like so many people, I’ve seen loved ones cared for at Weston Park, so this cause is very close to my heart.

What is your role on the Appeal Board and how does your background contribute to its success?

My role, like others on the Board, is to help raise vital funds and to speak to potential donors about the appeal.
I feel my medical background helps me understand the real, clinical difference this new technology will make - and that makes me even more passionate about supporting it.

The ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal is raising £1.85 million for a state-of-the-art MRI Simulator. How will this technology transform cancer care for patients across our region?

The MRI Simulator will make a huge difference to how patients are treated. It means more accurate, targeted treatment with fewer side effects - helping people recover better and faster.
It will also make treatment journeys smoother and less stressful, which is so important at such a difficult time.

Is there a particular moment or story that has stood out to you since joining the Appeal Board?

I’ve spoken to patients who’ve said they would have to make far fewer journeys from neighbouring towns if the scanner was available, which would make life so much easier.
Knowing that people are going through fewer treatments, and that their families are feeling less of that strain, really brings home the impact of what we’re doing.

What would you say to someone who is considering donating to the appeal?

Simply - please donate. Your support will help bring world-class treatment to people right here in our community.
This scanner will mean better outcomes, fewer side effects, and a far less traumatic experience for patients and their loved ones. It’s a huge step forward and enormous clinical upgrade - and our region deserves the very best.
