Weston Park Cancer Charity is encouraging everyone to get behind Sheffield-born Bronte Jones who is set to take on a series of challenges in this Saturday’s iconic Gladiators TV show as she battles to be crowned winner in the final.

Airing on Saturday 30 March at 5.50pm, Bronte will be fighting off the Gladiators in memory of her friend, Molly Midgley-Hellend who sadly died of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) in 2024 aged just 27 years old.

Bronte is part of a huge fundraising appeal set up in honour of Molly – called Team Molly.

Team Molly, consists of more than 150 people including Molly’s friends and family. The fundraisers are aiming to raise £50,000 to fund research as well as enhancing treatment at Weston Park Hospital.

Bronte said: “Taking on Gladiators is nothing in comparison to what Molly went through. If I can do anything to help raise money and awareness of ACC I will.

“It is a privilege to be a part of Team Molly and to help do my bit to raise funds for the hospital that treated her during her cancer journey.

“It has been a pleasure to be part of such an iconic show and an honour to help raise money in memory of our true gladiator – Molly.”

Team Molly has a raft of fundraising events set up to take place during 2024.

Events include Molly’s March which has seen fundraisers walk 5k every day throughout March as well as more than 50 runners taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon in April. Team Molly is also set to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

With more than 150 members already on board, Team Molly is encouraging more people to join in with the charity challenges or to help donate towards their fundraising aim of £50,000.

To join Team Molly or to show your support through donations, please get in touch with us on charityteam@wpcancercharity.org.uk.

Your involvement will not only honour Molly's memory but also make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by cancer.
