£1.6 million raised for a life-saving MRI Simulator – help us reach the finish line!

The ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal’s fundraising target of £1.85 million is now in our sights.

After a phenomenal year of fundraising, our incredible supporters have helped us to raise £1.6 million for the ‘see it. treat it.’ MRI Simulator appeal!

With its superior imaging capabilities, this powerful tool will revolutionise the way our clinicians plan and deliver radiotherapy. It will speed up recovery times, limit side effects and improve outcomes for patients across the board.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the appeal’s £1.85 million target is in our sights – but we need your help to reach the finish line.

Luckily there are plenty of exciting fundraising opportunities coming up. Get involved today to become part of this landmark campaign, which will ensure people in our region receive the very best cancer treatment.

Looking back on an astounding year

From Westfield Health matching donations up to the value of £500,000 (the largest donation in their history!) to Sheffield United FC raising £294,000 through their star-studded ‘Big Charity Bash’ match – this truly has been a year to remember.

We’ve also seen fundraisers tackle Mount Kilimanjaro, footballing legend Carlton Palmer take on a 10k, and a remarkable act of generosity from a Sheffield family – who donated half a million pounds to the appeal.

In total more than 880 of you have supported the appeal so far – whether that’s by donating or organising a fundraiser – and we’re grateful to each and every one of you.

On the home stretch!

We’ve come so far with the help of our community, but we can’t slow down now. With £250k left to raise before the appeal ends in October, this final fundraising push is vital.

Whether you’d like to set up your own ‘see it. treat it.’ fundraiser, or rally behind an upcoming event – your support today will make all the difference for local people living with cancer.

In June, we’ll also be launching a brand-new initiative, which gives supporters the option of donating a portion of their day’s wages to the appeal. Keep an eye out for further announcements!

The backing of the Blades

SUFC got their 2026 fundraising off to an amazing start, by hosting a Steel City Derby which raised £14,557 for the appeal.

Yesterday, the club gave fans the opportunity of a lifetime in their Pay 2 Play fundraising experience. Participants were welcomed into Bramall Lane and then took to the pitch for a full 90-minute match – all while raising crucial funds for the MRI Simulator.

SUFC supporter, James Kemp, AKA Blade on a Bike, has also set himself the huge challenge of cycling to all of the club’s 23 away games in the 2026/27 season. With upcoming games including Norwich, Southampton, and Swansea – he really is going the extra mile (and then some!) for the charity. Help him along the way, by adding your support today.

The Master Cutler’s Challenge

There’s still time to get involved in this year’s Master Cutler’s Challenge (MCC), which is aiming to raise £200k for the ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal.

Participating teams are given £50 of seed funding and challenged to raise as much as possible through their entrepreneurial prowess.

From DLA Piper turning Sheffield city centre into a giant Monopoly board, to IntelliAM travelling the distance around the world in 80 days – the creativity on display this year is something to behold.

The MCC’s finale in October will mark the end of the ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal – and a monumental achievement for the local community.

A word from our CEO

Emma Clarke, CEO at Weston Park Cancer Charity said:

“We launched the ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal a year ago – and what a year it’s been!
“We’re so grateful for our fantastic community; the current fundraising total of £1.6 million is a testament to the generosity, commitment and sheer determination of our supporters.
“The MRI Simulator will revolutionise radiotherapy at our hospital – helping more people to live, with and beyond cancer.
“Only five cancer centres in the UK have a dedicated MRI Simulator, and it’s incredibly exciting to think we’ll be adding South Yorkshire to that list, benefitting patients across the whole region.
“As we close in on our target of £1.85 million, we’re asking people across the region to help give us a final push. Cancer changes everything, but together – so can we.”

Join our 'see it. treat it.' appeal and donate today online or text CANCERAPPEAL followed by your donation amount to 70580 to give that amount. For example, CANCERAPPEAL 10 to donate £10.

Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.
