Voice of Sheffield United Gary Sinclair named as Weston Park Cancer Charity Patron

Weston Park Cancer Charity is delighted to welcome Gary Sinclair as a patron of the Charity. Well known as Sheffield United’s Stadium Announcer, as well as owner of popular late night bar, Maggie May’s. Gary joins other Charity patrons including Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill CBE, Darren Gough and most recently announced, Celebrity Chef Tim Bilton.

Gary says:

“First and foremost I was honoured to even be considered, and I’m proud as they come to accept the honour.

“I know I’m joining a great team of patrons, whose mission like mine is just to carry on raising funds, raising awareness and doing anything we can to help those with cancer, going through cancer and who will sadly suffer from cancer in the future. The fight goes on.”

“I’m aware of the magnificent work Weston Park Cancer Charity does and I’m just so proud, along with my mum – to accept this honour and carry on doing my bit. It’s a charity which has been so special to me over the years, and like everybody I’ve lost friends and family.”

Gary has been a longstanding supporter of the Charity and gives up his time to support Weston Park in whatever way he can. His support means so much to the Charity and he recognises now, more than ever, the need for support.

“The pandemic has been cruel to everybody, but especially now with the cost-of-living crisis, it is going to stretch everybody and it’s going to have an impact on us all. The charity relies on disposable income. As people’s disposable income is shrinking, people have to plan accordingly. But the charity even more so.

"Cancer doesn’t know what time it is, what the economy’s like, it’s no respecter of wealth or income.”
