Waheeda Younis
Waheeda champions Weston Park Cancer Charity’s Big Purple Bus!
In 2018, Waheeda Younis was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since her diagnosis and her treatment at Weston Park Hospital, Waheeda has attended many of the support sessions we host at our cancer support hub.
From reiki to acupuncture to attending our coffee mornings, Waheeda has made friends for life.
She regards her time at the centre as time out for her, and a time where she can focus on self-care for both her physical and mental health.
Waheeda is part of our steering group for our Big Purple Bus project and has been instrumental in helping us secure venues for the bus to stop at.
Waheeda is passionate about raising cancer awareness within the region’s hard to reach areas. She refers to cancer as a ‘taboo subject’ in ethnic communities and fully supports our Big Purple Bus project.
Back at our launch event in September, Waheeda cut the ribbon and helped announce the bus to our communities. Click here for more information on our Big Purple Bus or contact our team on charityteam@wpcancercharity.org.uk.
She said: “The Big Purple Bus is for the people of Sheffield, it’s for everyone. It’s a wow factor.”
