Our Together At Every Step partnership continues with Barnsley F.C. takeover day
We are taking over Oakwell Stadium on Saturday as Barnsley F.C. take on Derby County, as part of our Together At Every Step partnership.
The first event in the 2024 calendar for our ‘Together At Every Step’ partnership is taking place on Saturday, 24th February, as we take over Oakwell Stadium for Barnsley F.C.’s match against Derby County.
The aim of the partnership, with Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, is for the clubs to come together in raising awareness and supporting our fundraising efforts. We are well on our way to reaching our fundraising target of £50,000 for the partnership campaign and every penny makes a difference.
Big Purple Bus making it's Barnsley debut
Our Big Purple Bus will be making its Barnsley debut on Saturday. Our team of Healthcare Professionals and qualified Welfare Advisors will be available on the Big Purple Bus before kick-off, feel free to pop on-board and have a chat with the friendly team if you are at the game.
Along with the Big Purple Bus, one of our minibuses will also be at the stadium, showcasing our free transport service, available from Barnsley, Chesterfield, Rotherham and Meadowhall. Oakwell Stadium is a stop on the Barnsley route; patients are picked up and dropped off at Oakwell, with free parking for patients’ cars available at the stadium.
Limited edition shirts
The Barnsley team will be warming up in our limited edition shirts ahead of the game, which will be signed by players and up for auction afterwards, keep your eyes peeled for more information on that very soon.
Darren Hayes, Head of Fundraising at Weston Park Cancer Charity, said: “We’re delighted to continue our Together At Every Step campaign with Barnsley today, partnerships like this make such a difference to local people and our communities.
We’re looking forward to our takeover day and we are pleased to be bringing our Big Purple Bus to Oakwell which will be on hand to welcome fans onboard to learn about the cancer support we offer within the region.”
If you are at Oakwell Stadium on Saturday, please support us in whatever way you can. Have a chat with a member of the team to find out more about our services and donate via the collection buckets or contactless payment to help us reach our £50,000 target.
