We’re extremely happy to announce that Emma Clarke has been appointed the new chief executive of Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Sheffield born and bred Emma steps into the permanent position after spending the past six months as our interim chief executive officer.
Emma joined Weston Park Cancer Charity in 2019 as director of services and grant-giving, bringing with her vast experience in the voluntary and charitable sectors.
In her six months as interim CEO, Emma oversaw the phased re-opening of the high-quality, face-to-face services which we provide for the people of our region, while also supervising the reconfiguration of our charity premises.
That included the development of our Whitham Road Charity Hub into a welcoming, relaxing and private area for anyone who wants to pop in and have a chat with a member of the Weston Park Cancer Charity team.
Our Charity Hub now also operates as a waiting room for our Transport Service. The free service runs twice a day from Chesterfield for those receiving treatment at Weston Park.
Following her appointment, Emma spoke of her passion and commitment, as well as that of our wider charity team, to supporting people affected by cancer in our region.
“As someone born and raised in Sheffield, I know only too well what Weston Park means to the people of this city and the wider region,” said Emma.
“This is why I feel incredibly honoured to be appointed as chief executive of Weston Park Cancer Charity.
“I am looking forward to leading the charity and our amazing team to make sure that the one in two people diagnosed with cancer benefit from leading research, the best treatment and compassionate care.
“Until this is achieved, we will not stop, because that’s what the people of this region deserve.”
David Whitney, Chair of Weston Park Cancer Charity, said:
“The Board and I are delighted to confirm the appointment of Emma as our new chief executive.
“Emma is passionate about the work of our charity and will bring her inspiring leadership qualities to this key role, as we continue to strive to make a real difference to the lives of people facing cancer and their families.”
