Felicity’s Badass Babes Walk as One for Weston Park Cancer Charity

Weston Park Cancer Charity is excited to bring back "Walk as One 2024" at Endcliffe Park on Sunday, 15th September 2024.

This annual event is a heartwarming opportunity to raise essential funds for cancer patients and their families across the region. Last year’s walk was an incredible success, raising over £50,000 to support those affected by cancer in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, and Bassetlaw.

This year, one team stands out with a particularly touching story. Jackie and Stuart Towers are leading a group in loving memory of their daughter, Felicity. Felicity courageously faced breast cancer in 2017 and received compassionate care at Weston Park Cancer Centre. Despite celebrating the end of her initial treatment, the cancer returned, and Felicity spent her final days at Weston Park before moving to St Luke’s Hospice, where she passed away a week later.

Felicity’s memory is especially poignant this year, as she would have celebrated her 40th birthday on the 23rd of September. It’s also Jackie and Stuart’s 50th wedding anniversary, two significant milestones that Felicity will sadly miss.

"Felicity was such a positive person," Jackie recalls. "She had a passion for ‘Irregular Choice’ shoes and wore a different pair for each of her treatments to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Her dedication even caught the eye of the Sheffield Star."

Jackie and Staurt, along with Felicity's childhood friends Sheridan Buckley and Vicky Exton, are determined to keep Felicity’s spirit alive by participating in "Walk as One 2024." They hope to honor her memory and raise much-needed funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

The event offers several walking routes (10-mile, 4-mile, and 2-mile) through the scenic Endcliffe Park. Participants can enjoy live music, dance performances, children’s activities, and a reflective area to remember loved ones affected by cancer. Delicious food and drinks will be available from Sophie's Coffee and Cakes, Thornbridge Brewery, and more.
