Together at Every Step football partnership smashes £50k fundraising goal!
The partnership brings local clubs together to raise vital funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Today, the Together at Every Step football partnership is announcing a new fundraising target of £100k – after achieving its original goal of raising £50k for Weston Park Cancer Charity.
The Together at Every Step football partnership is made up of Sheffield United FC, Sheffield Wednesday FC, Barnsley FC, and Chesterfield FC. It brings clubs and fans from across the region together to raise vital funds for people impacted by cancer.
The fantastic sum raised so far will help to fund pioneering cancer research, life-changing support services, and treatment enhancements.
Barnsley FC and Chesterfield FC have also provided invaluable support to the charity’s transport service – which gives patients a free, reliable way to get to and from their appointments.
Chesterfield FC joined the partnership this summer, and the club’s SMH Group Stadium became the latest stop on the transport service. Clients can park for free and use the stadium’s facilities while they wait for the bus, which runs twice a day.
A new season of impact
With an ambitious new target to meet, our Together at Every Step football partners are busy planning this season’s charity takeover days.
Weston Park Cancer Charity takeover days will be held on:
- 25th October – Barnsley vs Rotherham United, Oakwell Stadium
- 23rd November – Sheffield Wednesday vs Sheffield United, Hillsborough Stadium
- 21st February – Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday, Bramall Lane
Further takeover days and events will be announced in due course, so watch this space!
Bekah Anstey, Corporate Partnership Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity, said:
“It’s so inspiring to see what can be achieved when we stand united against cancer.
“These football clubs and fans have put their heart and souls into the Together at Every Step partnership. That commitment and energy is reflected in their incredible fundraising total, and their newly set target!
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has attended a takeover day, donated, or helped to raise awareness. The funds you’ve raised will make a difference to so many local people and families, and we’re very grateful for your support.”
Darren Hayes, Chief Commercial Officer at Barnsley FC said:
“We know that one in two of us are likely to be diagnosed with cancer. At some point, it will touch all of our lives – whether that’s directly or through a friend or relative.
“That stark statistic spurs us on and drives our fundraising efforts. I know the other clubs in the Together at Every Step partnership feel just as motivated, which is why we decided to go even bigger with our new fundraising target.
“We’d like to thank all of the fans that have supported the partnership so far. We can’t wait to turn Oakwell Stadium purple this weekend, when we’ll be raising more vital funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity.”
