“The MRI Simulator could have changed my life.” - Mike backs our ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal to transform cancer care
Mike is encouraging people to support our latest ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal as he says that if the MRI Simulator scanner had been in place at the time of his diagnosis, he could have seen a reduction in his side effects.
When Mike Brown was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023 when he was 67, he began his long cancer treatment journey at Weston Park Cancer Centre.
Mike is encouraging people to support our latest ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal as he says that if the MRI Simulator scanner had been in place at the time of his diagnosis, he could have seen a reduction in his side effects.
"As a former prostate cancer patient who endured 20 exhausting trips for radiotherapy at Weston Park, I have to say the reduction to five trips will make a colossal difference to people’s lives.
“It is a complete game-changer that will ease the burden and lessen the exhaustion of cancer treatment.
“I am still struggling with the side effects of radiotherapy a year on, and the MRI Simulator has the ability to reduce side effects.
“It’s safe to say the MRI Simulator could have changed my life if it was available at the time of my diagnosis.
“The scanner will allow for much greater accuracy in targeting cancer cells whilst sparing healthy tissue. From a personal level and for the benefit of future patients this represents a monumental shift and one massive advantage.”
